Climate Justice Compact, in collaboration with the University of Mauritius, Island Innovation, United Nations Association – Mauritius, Brahma Kumaris, and other partners had organised an online event to discuss the need to adopt a holistic, multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder approach to ocean conservation. It will bring together a range of partners and actors, including government and private sector actors, civil society, youth networks, representatives from academia, and intergovernmental organisations. It has the highlight approaches from SIDS, with a focus on Mauritius. At the end of the event, and as a follow up, a proposal will be submitted to the Government of Mauritius, as well as relevant stakeholders in Mauritius, regarding a strategy to adopt a multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder approach to ocean conservation. The initiative came from Ms Krishnee Adnarain Appadoo, Founder and CEO of Climate Justice Compact.
Hon. Fabrice David Junior Minister of Blue Economy & Fisheries of the Republic of Mauritius also participated in the debates. Several other Mauritian NGOs representatives and participants from other parts of the world also attended the event. Vikram Dookna of BK and MUNA was also present at the event. Mrs. Tasneem Jaumally, Secretary for Education at UNA-MAURITIUS and Director of Honoris Education Networks had participated in the online event. Her video recording is as follows:-
