SDG Fund Project

UNAMAURITIUS attended the launching of the joint SDG Fund Project – Mauritius and Seychelles and a High-Level Panel Discussion on COP27, held on 29th July22 at Intercontinental hotel. UN Mauritius/Seychelles organized the function.
The function was attended by Minister of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment of Seychelles, Minister of Energy and Public Utilities of Mauritius UN Resident Coordinator for Mauritius & Seychelles and UNEP Deputy Executive Director.
The High-Level Panel Discussion on COP27 was held in collaboration with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Mauritius. As CEO of UNA MAURITIUS I intervened as a voice of NGOs in proposing to ensure a larger participation of NGOs involved in Climate Changes at COP27. I mentioned that it is NGOs who do the usual lobbying works with their respective Government representatives in such types of forums to have the final statement get through. I further demanded that Governments attending COPs to ensure that their NGOs be included in their national delegation. The Minister of Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment of Seychelles at his summing up assured that all Government delegations from the Seychelles always include NGOs representatives to COPs.
